The Client
Gonville & Caius College, commonly known as Caius, is one of the oldest and wealthiest constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge, founded in 1348. It boasts a rich academic legacy and has been home to many notable scholars, including the renowned theoretical physicist Professor Stephen Hawking.
The Project
OH! Films had the honor of producing a deeply moving and visually stunning film to commemorate Professor Stephen Hawking’s 75th birthday at Gonville & Caius College.
Commissioned by the college, this film explores the creative journey of composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad as she crafted a musical piece inspired by one of Professor Hawking’s favorite themes—the vastness of the universe. Through a blend of cinematic storytelling, interviews, and breathtaking performances by the Choir of Gonville & Caius, the production captures the seamless fusion of science, music, and legacy.
A particularly powerful moment in the film is Professor Hawking’s reaction during the première in Caius Hall, adding an intimate and personal touch to this special tribute.
Task
Project management with a dedicated producer and crew—delivering a high-quality, emotionally compelling film that celebrates the life and legacy of Professor Stephen Hawking through the lens of art and music.
