Recently completed series of influential keynote videos for TEDx, created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community.
This year TEDxCambridge University included talks by Bryan Zhang, Billy Boyle, Martin Bond, Nikita Hari, Soumaya Keynes, Niki Adelakun, Dr Advait Sarkar Erica Cao, Amber Cowburn, Peter Ajak, Dr Elizabeth Wagemann and Dr Sander van der Linden.
Billy Boyle, Owlestone Medical CEO: ”1 in 2 of us are going to get cancer. Early detection is the best opportunity we have to save lives. Billy Boyle is an engineering graduate from Cambridge University and Co-Founder of Owlstone Inc, which aims to save 100,000 lives and $1.5B in healthcare costs by developing a breathalyzer for disease with the potential to revolutionize early detection and precision medicine. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
Bryan Zhang, Executive Director of Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance: ”The emergence of crowdfunding, peer-to-peer lending and cryptocurrencies calls for a more critical examination of these alternative finances in a global context. He researches the accumulation and allocation of capital for start-ups and small-medium enterprises through alternative circuits of finance in a geographical and comparative context”.
Martin Bond is a professional photographer and the man behind ‘A Cambridge Diary’, an eight year series of daily photographs dedicated to recording the everyday lives of Cambridge people. Martin’s images have featured frequently as the front cover of Cambridge Magazine, at the Cambridge Literary Festival, in Cambridge University publications and even BBC’s ‘Have I got News For You’.
