A glittering gala dinner recognised the Cambridge United Community Trust Sport in the Community Award winners at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford.

Georgie Cohen was the inspirational performance of the year award winner, as sponsored by Inc., while Imogen Grant was named the OH! Films star of the year.
With Marshall the headline sponsor for the evening, the gala dinner helped shine a spotlight on the work of Cambridge United Community Trust.

United head coach Colin Calderwood was among those interviewed on stage by host Graham Daniels, while Julia Regis provided an insight into the Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust.

It was also the showcase for the Sport in the Community Awards, which are held in partnership with the Cambridge Independent.

Shortlists were announced in the six awards last month, with the judging panel having a tough time to decide the winners in an exceptional year of sport in the city.

The school of the year award, sponsored by Deloitte, was won by Cambourne Village College, while the team of the year – sponsored by the University of Cambridge Judge Business School – was earned by Cambridge 99 Rowing Club.

Winner of the Irwin Mitchell-sponsored coach of the year prize was Phil Mullen, and the champion of the year, sponsored by Grosvenor, was Andy Richardson.

*Full coverage, pictures from the evening and reaction from the award winners will be in the Cambridge Independent on Wednesday, 8th May 2019.
